St Kitts and Nevis A family of four, a plan B without relocating
The owner of a logistics company in Turkey, an Iranian national. Two children, aged 16 and 11. Relocation was never the point: the business stays where it is, and he wanted a second passport so as not to depend on a single visa basket and to travel freely to Europe and Asia. He was weighing St Kitts against Grenada and leaning towards Grenada on price.
Solution: We costed the full budget for four under both programmes. The gap was narrower than expected, while St Kitts won on passport strength and on how quickly banks recognise it. We went with the fund contribution. Two points were flagged separately: police clearance certificates from Iran and Turkey had to be started first, and the elder son would age out within eighteen months, so there was no room to delay. Biometrics were combined with a business trip to Dubai.
I was convinced Grenada would come out noticeably cheaper and had almost decided. Once both estimates were laid out with every fee, the difference was not enough to justify losing passport quality. My son turning sixteen had not crossed my mind at all, so thank you for saying it straight away rather than once we had already gathered half the paperwork.
Grenada A single applicant, the goal was business in the US
A developer from Serbia with his own fintech product, his main market being the US. He wanted to set up a company there and run it in person, but no work visa fitted his case on a Serbian passport. He came asking about St Kitts, simply because he had heard of it most.
Solution: St Kitts did not solve his problem. Grenada holds a treaty of commerce and navigation with the US, and that is what opens the door to an E-2 investor visa. We rebuilt the plan: Grenadian citizenship first, then a US company and the visa application. We were upfront that the passport does not grant the visa, that the consulate decides, and that the process would take several more months after citizenship. That was exactly what he had expected.
I came for one thing and left with another, and it turned out to be right. They could have simply sold me what I asked for and I would never have realised I had bought the wrong thing. What I particularly valued was being told straight about the visa: no guarantees, the consulate decides. After two consultations elsewhere where I was promised practically everything at once, that came as a surprise.
Vanuatu A married couple, budget and timing decided everything
A couple from Kazakhstan, both self-employed: he consults on industrial automation, she runs a small agency. They needed a second document for travel and for opening accounts, with no tie to any particular country. Caribbean programmes were outside their budget, and they did not want to wait six months: a trip was already booked for the autumn, and that was the whole reason behind it.
Solution: On those terms Vanuatu suited them better than anything else: markedly cheaper, with processing measured in weeks rather than months. We set out the limitations at once so there would be no disappointment: the passport is weaker than the Caribbean ones on visa-free access and will not get you into the Schengen area. For their purposes that was acceptable, but the decision was made with eyes open. Documents were gathered in three weeks and both passports arrived together.
We understood that for this money we would not get a passport on the level of St Kitts, and we did not need one. What mattered more was that nobody tried to sell us something pricier and we were told honestly where Vanuatu falls short. The Schengen point was explained upfront, before we had paid anything. My wife was anxious about the timing, but it came in even faster than promised.

Any provider promising a guaranteed outcome should be treated with caution. What we can do is assess your case before submission, prepare a complete and accurate file, and address the issues that most commonly lead to refusal.
The programme is closed to nationals of seven countries, but on two different levels. For Russia, Belarus and North Korea the ban is absolute, with no exceptions. Nationals of Iran, Afghanistan, Sudan and Yemen may be considered individually if they left their country of birth before the age of majority, have lived for at least 10 consecutive years in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, the Schengen Area, Australia, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia or the UAE, and retain no economic ties to their country of birth. The basis is a regulator circular of March 2024. If the restriction applies to you, we will find a programme without such requirements.
No. Grenada permits dual citizenship, so you keep your existing passport. There is no language test and no examination on the country. What does matter: check whether your own country allows a second citizenship and whether you must notify the authorities. Several countries impose a notification duty, and that responsibility rests with you.
No. The Investment Migration Agency states directly that you do not need to visit Grenada before, during or after the application. The interview is held online, the Oath of Allegiance can be administered outside the country, and everything else runs remotely through an authorised agent. This is one of the clearest differences between Grenada and the Antigua and Saint Lucia programmes, which both require time in the country.
As things stand, no. Living in Grenada is required neither to obtain nor to keep the status. That said, from 2026 a 30-day stay requirement within the first five years is under discussion: 5 days for the main applicant in year one, with the remaining 25 days spread across the family. As of July 2026 it has not come into force and applications are assessed under existing rules. The direction of reform is worth factoring into your planning.
On the cheapest route, a contribution to the National Transformation Fund, government costs come to roughly $260,700 for two spouses and two children under 17. That covers the $235,000 investment, $12,000 in due diligence and about $13,700 in other fees. The real estate routes cost more: from $345,700 for a share in a project, because a $50,000 government contribution applies on top. Agent fees and legal work on the transaction are calculated separately.
The main applicant and everyone aged 17 and over on the application, including a non-applicant spouse and any sponsor. Children under 17 are neither screened nor charged. The cost is $6,000 per person plus an interview fee of $1,000 each. Screening is carried out by independent international firms and covers background, source of funds, sanctions lists and adverse media. The fees are non-refundable whatever the decision.
The passport is issued for 5 years. Citizenship itself is granted for life and does not expire; only the document is renewed. Renewal goes through the Grenada passport authority or the consulate in London. Under Grenadian law a citizen cannot be refused a passport. Note that Grenada validity is shorter than several other Caribbean programmes, so you will renew more often.
Grenada accepts the widest range of relatives of any Caribbean programme. The base contribution of $235,000 covers the main applicant and three dependants. Beyond four people the top-up is $25,000 for a child or other dependant, $50,000 for a parent or grandparent aged 55 or under, and $75,000 for a sibling. Children qualify up to age 30 where financially dependent, parents and grandparents at any age, and siblings from 18 provided they are unmarried and have no children. A child born after the grant can be added through a separate application.
No, and that is the regulator official position: the programme offers no paid fast-track, because due diligence needs its full time. The standard Grenada timeline is already among the shortest in the region, at around 60 business days for assessment. The only real way to speed things up is a well-prepared file and prompt answers to regulator queries.
It gives the right to apply, but not immediately. Grenada is the only Caribbean programme with an E-2 treaty with the United States, in force since 1989. However, since 2026 anyone who acquired citizenship by investment must hold three years of continuous domicile in Grenada before filing. The visa decision itself rests with the US consulate and depends on the business plan and the level of investment. Claims of immediate E-2 access, which appear on some providers sites, do not reflect the position.
